Important Announcements (part 1): The New Top Blogs
Many of us are already aware of the proposal to change the "Top Blogs" interface. As the new interface take its launch, the Top Blogs page has the following announcements:
Needless to say, we will not be able to post today's Top Blog recognitions as the clock strikes 12:00am.
Since the new "Top Blogs" interface wil update more often than it currently does, we at TopBloggers (Nonni and I, Call me Roger) can't imagine how we will be able to keep up with its contant change. This may very well be the end of the TopBloggers manual archive blog. We will keep you updated while the transition takes place.
For the record, we are just as enthusiastic as the majority of MindSay who is for the new Top Blogs system. This way, we can sleep earlier at night.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank EVERYONE in MindSay who added and subscribed to the TopBloggers manual archive blog. Many found this blog to be a convenient way of getting notified by getting the results in one's inbox. And many found this blog to be an easier way to see who received a Top Blog recognition in the past. Nonni and I am glad (and will always be glad) to be of service to all of you MindSayers.
This blog was able to manually enter an approximate count of 400 archive entries. That means, we were able to cover an archive of more than 365 days, by hand, with the least automation as possible (like the $.TOPBLOGS code)! The "anonymous" founder of TopBloggers, who we all refer to as Nonni the anonymous, founded this blog on July 20, 2005. We will announce our official closing date depending on how the new interface goes.
Regardless of the change, this blog is here to stay. We have no plans of deleting this account, as this can be used as everyone's means of looking back on how the original Top Blogs actually worked. Who knows? One day, the founders might even recognize this blog as a part of MindSay's history [insert two winks here].
From CallmeRoger:
I'd like to personally like to thank you all for everything. I'd also like to thank Nonni for choosing me and entrusting me as the secondary operator of this blog. It was quite a challenge for me to take on another blog to update everyday, while I kept up with my own. But at the same time, I enjoyed it. This is the only blog that I had to update as fast and punctual as possible as the changes happened. And whenever I'm the current operator, I can't help but stay up and wait for my 11:00pm CST alarm to go off, as my reminder to update this blog. It has become a part of my daily life (well, nightly), and I'm going to personally miss it.
(Nonni may have something to add, edit and/or change in this entry...)
(...And will Nonni finally come out of anonymity, and reveal NONNI's true identity? Stay tuned...)
Nonni here. I am not going to reveal my identity, because that would take the mystery out of everything, right? I am thinking that maybe top blogs can be updated twice daily or maybe just weekly. It depends, however it would be fun to keep track of the snapshots, so we'll remember which blogs were good at certain moments. We'll see. Top Blogs is a fun thing, and it could change again in the future. Who knows?
Voting this entry is appreciated, but I'm pretty sure that this entry won't get Top Blogs tonight either.
